Class 10 student beaten inside police outpost for extortion, arm fractured; board exams at risk, two sub-inspectors suspended
Agra (The Uttam Hindu): A serious case of alleged police brutality has surfaced in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh. Two sub-inspectors posted at the Midhakur outpost under Kirawali police station have been accused of brutally assaulting a high school student and attempting illegal extortion. The incident reportedly left the Class 10 student with a fractured arm, putting his ongoing Uttar Pradesh Board examinations at risk.
According to reports, the incident began on February 18 after a minor dispute between two students. It is said that the matter was resolved through a phone conversation between both sides. Despite this, the police allegedly called the victim to the outpost for questioning and treated him harshly.
The student has alleged that the two sub-inspectors demanded money from him. When he expressed his inability to pay, he was allegedly tied up and beaten with sticks. Due to the assault, he suffered a serious injury, and medical examination has confirmed a fracture in his arm. As he is currently appearing for his Class 10 board exams, the injury has made it difficult for him to write, raising concerns about his upcoming papers and academic future.
After the matter came to light, senior police officials took note of the incident. The DCP West ordered an inquiry by the ACP Achhnera. During the preliminary investigation, the allegations were found to have merit. As a result, both accused sub-inspectors have been suspended with immediate effect. Officials have stated that based on the medical report, a case will be registered under strict legal provisions, and appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty.
