Delhi blast case breakthrough: Police recover suspicious red car from Faridabad
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the Monday evening blast near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi. Police have recovered the suspicious car they were searching for.
According to reports, Faridabad police recovered a suspicious red Eco Sports car (DL 10 CK 0458) near Khandawali village. This is the same car the police were searching for. According to police sources, the car is registered in Umar's name. Umar is the same person suspected of driving the i20 car used in the Delhi bombings. Investigations revealed that Umar was seen driving the i20 in several CCTV footage, prompting police to search for him. Police stated that Umar's Eco Sports car is registered at an address in Delhi, and based on this clue, raids were conducted at several locations in the capital.
Earlier, Delhi Police had put all police stations, checkpoints, and border outposts in the city on alert in search of the car. Uttar Pradesh and Haryana police were also informed about the suspicious car, and now the police have located it in Faridabad. The explosion occurred on November 10th in a car parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. Ten people were killed and dozens injured in the accident.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formed a special team of 10 officers to investigate the Delhi blasts. Sources said on Wednesday that the 10-member special team will be headed by NIA ADG Vijay Sakhare. It will include one IG, two DIGs, three SPs and the rest DSP-level officers.
Investigating agencies are also monitoring social media activity and collecting mobile phone dump data from multiple locations across Delhi. A high alert has been issued in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, and security has been increased around crowded public places and religious sites.
