New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi government has launched a special initiative to improve access to cooking gas for migrant workers by significantly increasing the availability of 5 kg Free Trade LPG cylinders. The move aims to ensure that essential cooking fuel reaches a larger number of beneficiaries with greater ease.

Following approval from the central government, the allocation of 5 kg cylinders under the migrant worker category has been doubled. As a result, daily availability has been increased from 684 to 1,368 cylinders. This step is expected to make LPG more accessible and ensure fair distribution among workers across the city.

To strengthen last-mile delivery, authorities will set up special camps in areas with a high concentration of migrant workers. District Magistrates have been directed to coordinate with Oil Marketing Companies and LPG distributors to organize these camps. Beneficiaries will be required to present Aadhaar cards and make the necessary payment to avail of the cylinders.

Additionally, district enforcement teams will monitor distribution and assess demand to maintain transparency and efficiency in the system. The initiative is aimed at ensuring timely availability of cooking gas and improving support for migrant workers in Delhi.
