New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Results for the Delhi MCD bypolls across 12 wards have been announced, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging as the biggest winner. Out of the 12 seats, BJP secured 7, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 3. Congress managed to win 1 seat, and an Independent candidate also claimed victory in 1 ward. Despite leading overall, BJP faced setbacks on two seats.

In the final tally, BJP’s strong performance indicates that it continues to maintain a solid voter base in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. AAP’s win on three seats reflects its continued relevance, while Congress winning just one seat highlights its limited presence in the current political landscape. The Independent win adds further diversity to the results in the national capital.

Voting for these 12 wards took place on November 30. Previously, nine of these wards were held by BJP and the remaining three by AAP. The voter turnout for the bypoll stood at 38.51%, lower than the 50.47% turnout recorded during the 2022 MCD elections for 250 wards. The wards where bypolls were conducted include Mundka, Shalimar Bagh-B, Ashok Vihar, Chandni Chowk, Chandni Mahal, Dwarka B, Dhichaun Kalan, Naraina, Sangam Vihar A, Dakshinpuri, Greater Kailash, and Vinod Nagar. A total of 51 candidates were in the fray — 26 women and 25 men.
