New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Air quality in the national capital continues to deteriorate, reaching dangerous levels. Thick toxic smog covered several parts of Delhi this morning, causing breathing discomfort among residents. Many areas recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) above 400.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI levels were recorded as follows this morning: Anand Vihar at 416, Ashok Vihar at 443, Aya Nagar at 332, Bawana at 437, Burari at 418, DTU at 432, Dwarka at 414, ITO at 399, and Jahangirpuri at 451. Dense smog was also seen near India Gate, where the AQI touched 400, placing it in the “very poor” category. A local resident said that rising smoke and haze have made breathing difficult, masks have become essential, and people are avoiding stepping out unless necessary.

In Moti Bagh too, a thick layer of toxic haze remained throughout the morning. CPCB data shows the AQI in this area reached 439, which falls under the “severe” category. Air quality in Dhaula Kuan and Punjabi Bagh also remained extremely poor, with AQI readings of 423 and 439 respectively.
