New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are in for a wet couple of days. The India Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for today and tomorrow, warning of light to moderate rain that may intensify from the night of July 13. This situation is expected to persist until July 17, keeping the weather pleasant.

The monsoon has finally picked up pace in Delhi-NCR, albeit a bit later than scheduled. Despite the delayed onset, the region can expect intermittent light to moderate rain throughout the weekend and next week. The monsoon trough remains active around Delhi, contributing to the wet weather.

Temperatures in Delhi are playing a balancing act with the weather. While there may be a slight increase in temperature by July 13, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 32-34°C till July 17. Currently, Delhi has received only 57 mm of rain in July, significantly below the normal average of 195.8 mm.

The weather forecast for areas surrounding the capital, including Faridabad, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Noida, is similar. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas for today as well. Residents can expect strong winds blowing at 25-40 km/h, adding to the discomfort caused by the triple attack of rain, sunlight, and humidity. On Friday, 17.1 mm of rain was recorded till 8:30 am and 1.0 mm till 5:30 pm, with the maximum temperature at 33.2°C and the minimum at 25.6°C, slightly below normal.
