Avoid These Delhi Routes Today: Road Closures & No Parking Zones Announced
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for Tuesday, August 5, announcing traffic restrictions and diversions on several major routes in central Delhi. These restrictions will be in place from 8 am to 10:30 am. According to the police, due to the emergency, there will be traffic restrictions on both carriageways and service roads in areas including W-Point, A-Point ITO Chowk, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi Gate, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Rajghat Crossing, MGM and IP Marg.
The advisory clarifies that parking will not be allowed on the Ring Road from Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg and Shanti Van to IP Marg via Rajghat. Apart from this, IP Marg (both carriageways) and related flyovers will also remain closed. Vehicles parked on these routes will be seized and legal action will be taken for violating traffic rules.
Commuters have been advised to avoid these routes and use alternate routes. Also, the traffic police have urged drivers to maintain patience, follow traffic rules and follow the instructions of personnel posted at intersections.
Earlier, due to the repair of Sarita Vihar flyover (Badarpur to Ashram), a part of it was closed from July 25 to August 8, while the remaining part was kept open for partial traffic. At the same time, traffic restrictions were imposed in many areas of the capital in view of the heavy movement of pilgrims during the Kanwar Yatra in the month of July.
Delhi Traffic Police has re-launched the 'Traffic Prahari' app. Through this app, citizens can report traffic rule violations and also get cash rewards on valid reports.
