New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A big relief news came on Friday for lakhs of slum dwellers living in Delhi. Taking an important policy decision, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has banned the demolition of any slum in the capital with immediate effect. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has issued strict orders to all the concerned departments including Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Railways in this regard. She said, "If it is very necessary to remove a slum, then first of all the residents will be allotted permanent houses, only after that the process of shifting them will begin." The Chief Minister has also met Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena on this issue and apprised him of the government's stand.

Speaking at a seminar titled 'Vikas Bhi, Hariyali Bhi', CM Rekha Gupta said that her government is committed to providing a dignified life to every citizen.
