Massive Fire Breaks Out at Utensil Factory in Delhi’s Wazirpur, 9 Fire Tenders Deployed
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A major fire broke out at a utensil manufacturing factory in Delhi’s Wazirpur Industrial Area early Saturday morning, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and triggering panic among nearby residents and workers. Officials from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) confirmed that nine fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the site to control the blaze.
According to initial reports, the fire began around 4:30 a.m. and spread rapidly through the factory due to the presence of highly flammable materials used in metal polishing and production. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, as most of the workers had not yet arrived for their morning shift.
Firefighters battled the flames for several hours, struggling with dense smoke and narrow lanes that made it difficult for fire engines to access the inner parts of the industrial cluster. Local authorities have cordoned off the area to prevent public movement and ensure safety.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the blaze may have been caused by a short circuit in the electrical system, though officials have not ruled out other possibilities. The Delhi Police and Fire Department are conducting a joint probe to determine the exact cause and assess the extent of property damage.
Wazirpur, known for its metal and utensil manufacturing units, has witnessed several fire incidents in the past, raising questions about industrial safety compliance and fire preparedness in the area. Authorities are now expected to review safety protocols across nearby factories to prevent such accidents in the future.
