Most-Wanted Naxalite Hidma Killed in Border Encounter; 6 Naxals Neutralised
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces have achieved a major success in their ongoing anti-Naxal operations. Most-wanted and extremely notorious Naxalite Madvi Hidma, along with five other Naxal cadres, was killed in an encounter near the Andhra Pradesh–Chhattisgarh–Telangana border, close to Alluri Sitarama District of Andhra Pradesh. Another Naxalite was also killed separately in Sukma.
According to police officials, the encounter took place deep inside forest areas located on the tri-junction of the three states. Acting on intelligence inputs regarding Naxalite movement, security teams launched a search operation early in the morning. Heavy gunfire continued for several hours between both sides.
Alluri Sitarama District SP Amit Bardar confirmed that the operation began around 6:30 a.m. in the forests of Maredumilli Mandal, and so far, the deaths of six Naxalites have been confirmed.
Madvi Hidma was considered one of the most dangerous Naxalite leaders. He was the mastermind behind 26 major Naxalite attacks and carried a reward of ₹50 lakh. His wife, Raje, was also killed in the encounter. Born in 1981 in Sukma, Hidma rose from leading a guerilla battalion to becoming a member of the CPI-Maoist Central Committee. His name came into prominence after the Jheeram Ghati attack.
