Rajasthan High Court receives bomb threat; panic-like situation in Jaipur
Jaipur (The Uttam Hindu): A panic-like situation erupted in Jaipur after the Rajasthan High Court received a bomb threat through an email. Regular court proceedings had just begun when the administration noticed the threatening message. The police and security agencies were immediately alerted, and the High Court complex was evacuated without delay. Lawyers, litigants, and staff members were quickly moved outside, and the entire premises were sealed.
Within minutes, teams from the police, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad reached the spot and launched a full-scale search operation. The campus was divided into multiple zones to conduct a thorough combing exercise and detect any suspicious object. Due to the sudden emergency response, hearings in all courtrooms had to be halted. A large crowd of lawyers and litigants gathered outside the High Court, creating a tense atmosphere.
For the past seven months, Rajasthan has repeatedly witnessed similar threats. Several public places, government offices, courts, and religious sites have received bomb threats through email. Just a day earlier, Ajmer Dargah and the District Collectorate received similar threats, which were later found to be fake. Jaipur Police said that a cyber team has been assigned to trace the sender. In many cases, the use of foreign servers and fake email IDs has been confirmed, making the investigation more complex.
After completing the search operation, authorities reopened access to the High Court premises. The police have urged people not to believe any rumours and to follow the instructions issued by security agencies.
