Red Fort Blast: Eight Killed, 24 Injured as Delhi Shaken by Powerful Explosion
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The national capital, Delhi, was rocked once again by a powerful explosion near the Red Fort. The blast occurred in a car parked near the monument, killing eight people and injuring around 24 others. The explosion was so intense that several nearby vehicles were completely destroyed in the fire. Videos from the scene reveal the magnitude of the devastation and the panic it caused in the area.
This is the first major explosion in Delhi since 2011. While the exact cause of the blast has not yet been confirmed, initial reports suggested it could have been due to a CNG car fire. However, given the scale of destruction, authorities are not ruling out the possibility of a terrorist conspiracy.
This is not the first time Delhi has witnessed such deadly attacks. Being the national capital, the city has often been a target of terrorist strikes and bomb blasts. These incidents have not only shaken the city but also raised serious questions about the country’s overall security infrastructure.
Since 1997, most major explosions in Delhi have been linked to terrorist organizations such as the Indian Mujahideen (IM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and other extremist groups. These attacks were aimed at creating panic and undermining national security. In the aftermath of these incidents, authorities strengthened Delhi’s security network by expanding CCTV coverage, enhancing intelligence coordination, and improving emergency response systems. These measures helped prevent major attacks in the past decade. However, the recent Red Fort explosion has once again put security agencies on high alert and revived concerns over possible terror threats.
