Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): A Delhi-bound flight made an emergency landing in Lucknow on Tuesday evening after smoke was detected mid-air. The aircraft was traveling from Bagdogra to New Delhi when the incident occurred, causing panic among passengers and crew.

According to reports, smoke suddenly appeared inside the aircraft during the flight. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the pilot immediately contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and requested permission for an emergency landing in Lucknow. The aircraft was safely landed at around 5:30 PM after receiving clearance.

A total of 148 passengers were on board the flight. All passengers are safe, and no casualties have been reported. Some passengers were later sent to Delhi through alternative flights.

Earlier, a similar incident occurred at New Delhi airport, where an IndiGo flight arriving from Visakhapatnam made an emergency landing due to a technical issue in the engine. At that time, a high alert was declared at the airport and the runway was immediately prepared.

In recent times, incidents of emergency landings due to technical issues have increased. This highlights the need for airlines to strictly follow safety protocols and conduct regular technical inspections to ensure passenger safety.
