Western Disturbance brings rain to city, yellow alert issued as heavy downpour expected to continue

New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): Delhi experienced heavy rain on Thursday, Dussehra, due to a western disturbance. The rain started in the afternoon and continued intermittently until late evening, with varying intensities across different areas. The Meteorological Department upgraded the alert level from green to yellow, anticipating the situation's severity.

Temperature and Humidity: Despite the rain, temperatures remained relatively stable. The maximum temperature was recorded at 35.7 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal, while the minimum temperature soared to 25.8 degrees Celsius above normal, reaching 27.5 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels ranged from 61% to 93%.

Rainfall and Forecast: The city received 14 mm of rainfall until 8:30 pm. According to forecasts, the rainy spell may continue on Friday, with cloudy skies and possibilities of thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain. The predicted maximum and minimum temperatures for Friday are 34 and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Future Weather Outlook: After Friday's rain, dry weather is expected on Saturday. However, rain is forecast to return from Sunday to Tuesday, with a yellow alert already issued for Monday.

Air Quality Remains Under Control: The air quality in Delhi remains moderate, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 123, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). It is expected to stay in the moderate category in the coming days.
