Begusarai (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking CCTV footage from Begusarai Railway Station in Bihar has surfaced, showing how a passenger narrowly escaped death due to a moment of haste. The terrifying incident unfolded on the station platform when a passenger tried to board a moving train, lost his balance, and nearly fell into the dangerous gap between the train and the platform. At the crucial moment, an alert jawan of the Railway Protection Force rushed in like a guardian and pulled the passenger away from the jaws of death within seconds. The dramatic rescue left everyone present at the station stunned.

The incident took place when the Bhagalpur–Jaynagar Express arrived at Platform No. 1 of Begusarai Railway Station at around 10:31 a.m. After a brief three-minute halt, the train started moving again at 10:34 a.m. At that moment, a 44-year-old passenger, Ajit Kumar, a resident of Bhagalpur, came running from a stall on the platform. Ajit Kumar had stepped down from the train to buy some items while travelling from Naugachia to Samastipur.

Seeing the train leaving, he tried to grab the handle of a coach while running alongside the moving train. However, due to the speed, he lost balance and fell while being dragged along the platform, dangerously close to the gap beside the moving train.

Witnessing the passenger heading toward a fatal accident, RPF Sub-Inspector Sanjay Kumar Sahni, who was on duty nearby, reacted instantly. Displaying remarkable courage and quick reflexes, he sprinted toward the passenger and pulled him away just in time, preventing him from being crushed under the train.

The passenger, Ajit Kumar, suffered injuries to his head in the incident. RPF personnel immediately contacted authorities through a walkie-talkie and managed to stop the moving train. The injured passenger was then safely placed in the guard’s coach and sent onward toward his destination.

After the incident, RPF Post Commander Arvind Kumar Singh appealed to passengers to value their lives and avoid attempting to board or deboard moving trains merely to save a few minutes, warning that such risky actions can lead to fatal accidents.
