Veteran Director Dheeraj Kumar, Creator of 'Om Namah Shivay', Passes Away at 79
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Famous Bollywood and TV actor, producer and director Dheeraj Kumar passed away on Tuesday. He breathed his last at the age of 79. It is being told that on Monday, Dheeraj Kumar's health suddenly deteriorated, after which he was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He was suffering from acute pneumonia, due to which he said goodbye to the world. The news of Dheeraj Kumar's death has shocked the film and TV industry.
Film producer Ashok Pandit mourned the death of Dheeraj Kumar by sharing his picture and paying tribute to him, he wrote, 'It is very sad to know that the well-known actor-producer Dheeraj Kumar is no more among us. Om Shanti.'
Dheeraj Kumar made his mark in all three fields of acting, direction and production in his career. He worked in many hit films in the 1970s, such as 'Deedar', 'Raaton Ka Raja', 'Baharon Phool Barsao', 'Sharafat Chhod Di Maine', and 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan'. Apart from this, he was also active in Punjabi films, in which his acting was well appreciated in recent films like 'Sajjan Singh Rangroot' and 'Ik Sandhu Hunda Si'.
Dheeraj Kumar also earned a good name in the field of direction. He made a film for children like 'Aabra Ka Daabra'. He also directed popular TV serials like 'Om Namah Shivay', 'Kahaan Gaye Wo Log', 'Shri Ganesh', 'Sanskar', 'Dhoop-Chaanv', 'Adalat', and 'Jodiyan Kamal Ki'.
As a producer, his company 'Creative Eye Limited' has produced more than 30 serials, in which family and religious themes were given special importance. Shows like 'Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyan', 'Ishq Subhan Allah', and 'Sanskar' are the hallmarks of his productions.
Recently, Dheeraj Kumar attended the inauguration ceremony of the ISKCON temple in Kharghar area of Mumbai. On this occasion, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his support for the spread of Sanatan Dharma.
