Gunshots fired outside Rohit Shetty's Mumbai residence, security beefed up in exclusive neighbourhood
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): The firing incident outside the house of famous Bollywood director Rohit Shetty, who has given blockbuster films like 'Singham' and 'Chennai Express', has created a sensation in Mumbai. On Sunday morning, unknown assailants fired four rounds outside his residence in Juhu, which created panic in the entire area. After this incident, Mumbai Police immediately reached the spot and took charge and the security of the director's house has been increased. Fortunately, there is no report of any casualty in this attack.
Panic in Juhu, police scanning CCTV footage
According to police sources, unidentified individuals targeted Rohit Shetty's house and fired shots in the air on Sunday morning. Whether Rohit Shetty was present at home at the time of the incident has not yet been confirmed, nor has any official statement been issued by his team. Police have registered a case against the unknown assailants and are examining footage from CCTV cameras in the area to identify the accused. The motive behind this incident is not yet clear, but it has once again raised questions about security in the film industry.
Salman Khan and Kapil Sharma have also become targets
This isn't the first time a high-profile celebrity's home or establishment has been targeted by gunfire. In April 2024, two bike-borne assailants opened fire at superstar Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, a move claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Comedian Kapil Sharma's Canada-based "Caps Cafe" also faced three gunfire incidents last year. Similar suspicious activity was also observed near actress Disha Patani's home in Bareilly, raising security concerns for the stars.
From Gulshan Kumar to Moosewala, when the industry was shaken
The firing at Rohit Shetty's home has brought back memories of a dark era in Bollywood when the underworld was at its peak. In 2000, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan was also attacked by the mafia after the success of "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai," but he narrowly escaped. However, T-Series owner Gulshan Kumar and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala were not so fortunate. The brutal murder of Gulshan Kumar outside a temple in the 1990s and the gunning down of Sidhu Moosewala in broad daylight in 2022 sent shockwaves through the industry. Police are now investigating whether a gang is involved in Rohit Shetty's case or whether it was the work of a lunatic.
