Known for her melodious voice and thousands of iconic songs, she breathed her last on April 12 at a hospital in Mumbai after battling health issues. A life filled with struggles

Born in 1933 in Sangli, Asha Bhosle was the daughter of renowned singer Deenanath Mangeshkar. After her father’s death when she was just nine, she took on family responsibilities early. Along with her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar, she began singing at a young age, marking the start of a long and challenging journey.

Early marriage and separation

At the age of 16, she married Ganpatrao Bhosle against her family’s wishes. However, the marriage was troubled, and she faced harassment and domestic issues. She eventually left her husband while pregnant and raised her children independently.

Personal tragedies
