Shilpa Shetty questioned for 4.5 hours; EOW records statement in ₹60 crore fraud case
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police has recorded the statement of actress Shilpa Shetty in connection with an alleged fraud case of Rs 60 crore. According to an official, Shilpa was questioned for about 4 hours and 30 minutes and her statement was officially recorded.

During this, Shilpa gave information about the transactions related to the bank account of her advertising company and also presented several documents, which are now being investigated by the police. The Bombay High Court on Wednesday refused to give any interim relief to Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra. The couple had approached the court for the suspension of the Lookout Circular (LOC) so that they could travel to Phuket, Thailand from October 2 to 5.
Lawyers for the couple said they have fully booked travel and accommodation and have previously traveled abroad while cooperating with investigating agencies. The case alleges a fraud of ₹60 crore related to the couple's now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt. Ltd. Deepak Kothari, director of UY Industries Pvt. Ltd., filed the complaint. He alleged that between 2015 and 2023, Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty induced him to invest, and he invested approximately ₹60.48 crore. Shilpa also provided a personal guarantee for this investment.
Raj Kundra appeared before the EOW on September 15th in response to a police summons and participated in questioning. A bench of Chief Justice Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhar has now asked the state to file a response by October 8th. The couple also informed the court that they intend to travel to the United States, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Dubai, and London in October and December. The court will now hold the next hearing in the case on October 8th.
