Mewat (The Uttam Hindu): In view of the upcoming Braj Mandal Yatra in Nuh (Mewat), Haryana, scheduled for July 14, the district administration has imposed a 24-hour internet shutdown and suspended bulk SMS services from 9 pm on July 13 to 9 pm on July 14. However, SMS services related to banking and mobile recharge will continue uninterrupted.

The decision was made to maintain law and order in the district, considering the violence that erupted during the Braj Mandal Yatra in 2023, resulting in some fatalities. To ensure a peaceful event, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has ordered the closure of meat shops and factories along the yatra route. A massive security deployment of 2,500 policemen, including mounted police, has been arranged, and checkpoints have been increased. Drones will also be used to monitor the situation.

For security reasons, heavy vehicles have been banned from entering Nuh during the yatra. The Nuh Police have issued a traffic advisory, diverting routes to minimize disruptions. Heavy vehicles from Alwar to Gurugram or Sohna will be rerouted via Ambedkar Chowk, Ferozepur Jhirka, and Mumbai Expressway. Similarly, vehicles from Gurugram or Sohna towards Alwar will follow the same route in reverse. The cyber cell of the police will closely monitor online and social media activities to prevent any rumors or misinformation

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure a peaceful and successful Braj Mandal Yatra. Citizens are advised to follow the traffic advisory and cooperate with the authorities
