Haryana BJP Chief Faces Fresh Trouble as Court Reopens Rape Case; Victim Challenges Closure Report
Solan (The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing controversy surrounding Haryana BJP president Mohan Lal Badoli and singer Rocky Mittal took a new turn after a Himachal court reopened the alleged gang-rape case. The court allowed the complainant to file her objections against the police’s closure report, which had earlier cleared the accused.
The case was originally filed in December 2024 at Kasauli Police Station after a Delhi-based woman alleged that in July 2023, she was forced to consume alcohol and sexually assaulted by Badoli and Mittal in a hotel in Kasauli. The police later filed a closure report, citing lack of evidence, delay in complaint, and non-cooperation from witnesses.
However, the Sessions Court in Solan found that the complainant was not given a proper chance to be heard before the report was accepted. The court called the previous magistrate’s order “illegal” and directed that the woman be allowed to submit her objections.
The complainant has now filed a protest application, challenging the closure report and seeking a full trial. The court has listed the matter for further hearing soon.
Both Badoli and Mittal have denied the allegations, calling the case politically motivated. The Himachal Pradesh High Court has also directed that the complainant’s identity not be made public.
The reopening of the case has created a fresh political storm in Haryana, with opposition parties demanding transparency and accountability.
