Faridabad (The Uttam Hindu): In a shocking incident, a 37-year-old radiotherapist allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 15th floor of a residential building in Faridabad, Haryana. The deceased, identified as Dr. Ankur Sharma, had been living in the apartment with his six-year-old son. Police have recovered a suicide note in which he accused his wife and in-laws of mental harassment and holding him responsible for the deterioration of their relationship.

According to police sources, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at a high-rise apartment in the Sector-86 area of Faridabad. Residents of the society alerted security personnel after hearing a loud thud. Dr. Sharma was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Dr. Sharma worked as a radiotherapist at a reputed private hospital in Gurugram. He had reportedly been under stress due to ongoing domestic disputes. In his handwritten note, he mentioned feeling “mentally tortured” by his wife and her family members. Police confirmed that the note has been sent for forensic verification.

A senior police officer said, “We have registered a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC and have started an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Statements of family members and neighbors are being recorded.”

Neighbors told the police that the couple had frequent arguments over personal issues. Following their separation a few months ago, Dr. Sharma continued to live in the apartment with his son, while his wife reportedly stayed with her parents in Delhi.

The incident has sparked widespread concern about rising mental health issues and marital stress among working professionals. Police urged citizens to reach out for psychological or counseling support in times of distress, emphasizing that “no problem is worth one’s life.”

The case is currently under investigation, and police said appropriate legal action will be taken once the inquiry is complete.
