Dharamshala(The Uttam Hindu): A foreign female paraglider pilot, who went missing in the Triund hills above Dharamshala after taking off from the world-renowned paragliding site of Bir-Billing in Himachal Pradesh, has died. Following the incident, the pilot's body was rescued and a post-mortem was conducted at Tanda Medical College. The last rites of the Canadian pilot were also performed in Bir.

The female pilot's boyfriend has requested the Bir Paragliding Association to hold his friend Megan's funeral here. The tragic end of the 27-year-old Canadian paraglider is deeply troubling for everyone. Suresh Thakur, a BPA representative and member of the rescue team, stated that the pilot's funeral will be held in Bir this afternoon. He added that it is deeply saddening that a foreign female pilot died in the accident.

It is noteworthy that 27-year-old Canadian pilot Megan Elizabeth Roberts went missing after taking off last Sunday. However, her GPS system later revealed that she was stranded somewhere in the hills of Triund, an area above Dharamshala. A private helicopter was used to search for her the following day, Monday, but unfortunately, she had already died. Rescue teams later arrived at the scene and recovered her body from the hill. The missing female pilot was a Canadian resident, identified as Ms. Megan Elizabeth Roberts.

Rescue team member Rahul Singh was the first to land on the high peak via helicopter on October 19th. During the rescue, Rahul managed to reach the body of the 27-year-old Canadian female paraglider that night. However, he was unable to retrieve the body alone and therefore stayed there overnight. It is believed that the female pilot, Megan, died due to her injuries and the extreme cold, as the incident site was located approximately 3,900 feet above sea level.

According to reports, Megan took off from the Bir-Billing paragliding site at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday. She then traveled a long distance and went missing in the Dhauladhar mountain ranges of Upper Dharamshala (Triund).
