Cloudburst in Bilaspur, Himachal: Vehicles Buried Under Debris
Bilaspur (The Uttam Hindu): Due to heavy rains and landslides in Himachal Pradesh, life has been badly affected. On Saturday morning, a cloudburst was reported in Gutrahan village of Namhol sub-tehsil of Bilaspur district causing heavy destruction in the area. Due to this, more than 10 vehicles got buried under the debris. After heavy rains, landslides have also washed away the land of many farmers. At the same time, a big landslide occurred from the hill at four o'clock in the morning in Sapdi Roh village of Dharampur in Mandi district. This has posed a threat to many houses. After this, the administration has evacuated 8 houses.
Weather havoc continues in Himachal, cloudburst causes devastation in Bilaspur; many vehicles buried in debris: On the other hand, a landslide occurred after heavy rains on Friday night near Tunnuhatti, Lahad and Mehla on the Bharmour-Pathankot National Highway. Due to this, the traffic on the road came to a complete halt and long queues of vehicles were formed. People were forced to spend the night in their vehicles. Executive Engineer of NH Division Meet Sharma said that the road was closed due to falling of trees and debris, the work of restoring it is going on. Hundreds of roads are closed due to landslides occurring at various places in the state. Electricity transformers and water supply schemes have also come to a standstill in many areas, due to which people are facing a lot of trouble.
The Meteorological Center Shimla has forecast rain in many parts of the state till September 19. A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain and thunderstorms at some places for September 13 and 14. It has been raining intermittently in various areas of the state since Saturday morning. While Shimla is cloudy with sunshine, heavy rain has been recorded in areas like Palampur, Kangra and Jogindernagar.
The figures of the monsoon season are also worrying. From 20 June to 12 September, property worth Rs 4,465 crore has been damaged in the state. During this period, 386 people have died out of which 168 have died in road accidents. Apart from this, 451 people have been injured and 41 people are still missing. The state government and disaster management teams are engaged in relief and rescue work. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to be alert and stay in safe places.
