Himachal Pradesh's Kullu Hit by Cloudburst; Property and Infrastructure Damaged
Kullu (The Uttam Hindu): A cloud burst in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. The surrounding area has been damaged in this incident. Three shops and a bike have been hit by debris. A foot bridge in Sarvari has been damaged. Fortunately, there was no loss of life in this natural disaster.
According to the information, a cloudburst occurred in the Laghaati area of Kullu at around 3 am on Tuesday. Due to the sudden surge in the drain, three shops and a bike were damaged in Kanoon village. Apart from this, due to the cloudburst, the water level in the Sarvari ravine flowing near Kullu city increased significantly, due to which a foot bridge in Sarvari was damaged. At the same time, a large part of the main road connecting the Kullu bus stand to the four-lane was also washed away in the strong current.
However, the police have barricaded the damaged part of the road and people are being prevented from going ahead. Some people are driving their vehicles on these roads risking their lives, which has increased the administration's concern. The villagers came out of their homes after hearing the loud sound of cloudburst. After the situation worsened, these people moved to safer places. A local woman told news agency IANS, "This atmosphere of fear has been prevailing for many days. Due to continuous rain, there is damage in the entire state. Similarly, a cloudburst occurred in Kullu at night, due to which people were scared. There has been a lot of damage due to cloudburst."
At present, considering the seriousness of the situation, the district administration has issued orders to keep all educational institutions in the district closed on Tuesday. Also, the administration has shifted the people living in slums on the banks of rivers and streams in Sarvari area to safer places. The water level of rivers and streams remains high and there is an atmosphere of fear among the people. The administration has appealed to the people to be cautious, avoid rumors and stay in safe places.
