Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): On the occasion of Karva Chauth, the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has announced a special festive offer for married couples. The corporation will provide a 10% discount on stays in all its 55 hotels and restaurants across the state on October 9 and 10.

Karva Chauth, falling on October 10 this year, is a sacred festival during which married women observe a nirjala fast (without food and water) for the long life of their husbands. HPTDC’s General Manager Anil Taneja said the initiative aims to make the festival more peaceful, traditional, and memorable for women and their families.

As part of this offer, all HPTDC hotels will serve free “Sargi” to fasting women between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM on October 9 and 10. The Sargi platter will include phirni, banana, a glass of milk, gulab jamun, and mathi, maintaining the traditional essence of the festival.

Additionally, the hotel premises will have stalls offering dry fruits, chunari, bindis, bangles, ribbons, kajal, and mehendi for purchase. Guests will also receive a complimentary puja thali and karwa containing urad dal, rice, flowers, and other puja essentials.

On October 10, HPTDC restaurants will prepare a special “Vrat Thali” (fasting meal) for guests, available for purchase. According to the corporation, this initiative is expected to attract tourists and give local families a serene and culturally rich environment to celebrate the festival.

Anil Taneja added that HPTDC has always been committed to offering unique and memorable experiences to its guests, and this festive gesture for Karva Chauth is another step in that direction. Couples are encouraged to book their stay at any HPTDC property to make this Karva Chauth truly special.
