Tragedy in Himachal: Bus plummets into gorge, 8 killed in devastating crash

Sirmaur (The Uttam Hindu): A horrific accident occurred Friday afternoon in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district. A private bus lost control and fell into a deep ravine near the Haripurdhar area. Eight people have been confirmed dead in the horrific accident, while several other passengers are reported to be seriously injured. The death toll is expected to rise.

The bus was going from Kupvi to Shimla

According to reports, the private bus was traveling from Kupvi to the state capital, Shimla. As it approached Haripurdhar, it suddenly rolled off the road. The accident was so horrific that it was completely destroyed. Around 30 to 35 people were on board. As the bus plunged into the ditch, screams erupted. Hearing the commotion, nearby villagers immediately rushed to the scene and began rescue and relief efforts before the police arrived. Locals were seen carrying the injured to the road on their backs.

SP confirmed the deaths

Sirmaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Nischint Singh Negi said eight people were killed in the accident. He expressed concern that the death toll could rise. "I have personally left for the scene," the SP said. "Police and rescue teams are working to pull the injured out of the ditch."

Minister gave instructions, injured are being sent to Nahan

The administration swung into action upon receiving information about the accident. Five seriously injured patients are being referred to Sangrah, Dadahu, and Nahan Medical College for treatment. Meanwhile, Industry Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan expressed his deep condolences over the accident. He has issued strict instructions to the Nahan Medical College administration to make proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured. The cause of the accident is currently unknown; the police are investigating the matter.
