Two Solid Waste Management Vehicles Provided to Shimla Municipal Corporation Under Swachhata Hi Seva 2025

Shimla (The Uttam Hindu): Under the leadership of Mr. Bhupendra Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, SJVN, a Navratna CPSE, is advancing a greener future through environmentally friendly initiatives.

Under Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada 2025, two electric solid waste management vehicles were flagged off from Mall Road, Shimla, in the august presence of Mr. Harish Janartha, Hon'ble MLA, Shimla (Urban), and Mr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN. On the occasion, Mr. Bhupendra Atri, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla, along with senior officials from SJVN and the Municipal Corporation Shimla were also present.

Mr. Ajay Kumar Sharma informed that SJVN has provided financial assistance of ₹25.44 lakh to the Municipal Corporation, Shimla, for the purchase of two environmentally friendly electric solid waste management vehicles. Mr. Sharma said, "The deployment of these electric vehicles will significantly strengthen Shimla's cleanliness drive by enabling zero-emission waste collection and improving air quality."

This initiative is a key pillar of the "Clean Green Festival - Eco-Friendly and Zero-Waste Celebration," which is one of the five key pillars of this year's Swachhata Hi Seva campaign theme, "Swachhotsav." By supporting sustainable waste management solutions, SJVN reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection and corporate social responsibility.

Under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the 9th edition of the Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada, themed "Swachhotsav," began on September 17 and will conclude on October 2, 2025. The 15-day campaign aims to mobilize millions of people across the country in a collective call to action for cleanliness.
