Jaipur (The Uttam Hindu): A massive explosion rocked the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway late Tuesday night when a chemical-laden tanker rammed into a stationary truck carrying LPG cylinders near Sawarda Pulia. The impact caused the gas truck to overturn, triggering a chain of powerful explosions that continued for nearly two hours. Around 200 cylinders reportedly exploded one after another, sending shockwaves up to 10 km away and plunging the surrounding area into panic.

Firefighters from Dudu, Bagru, and Kishangarh rushed to the scene and began rescue operations. The blaze was so intense that thick plumes of smoke were visible from miles away. Traffic came to a standstill on both sides of the highway as the flames engulfed several vehicles nearby.

Jaipur District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni confirmed that the accident occurred after a chemical tanker collided with a truck loaded with LPG cylinders. One person has been confirmed dead, and rescue teams are working to bring the situation under control.

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the incident and directed district authorities and police to maintain alertness while providing all possible assistance to the injured. Deputy CM Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa was dispatched to the site to take stock of the situation. In a social media post, he stated that teams from the police, fire department, and administration are working round the clock to extinguish the fire and assist those affected.

Several videos of the incident have surfaced online, showing huge fireballs and the sound of consecutive explosions lighting up the night sky. Reports indicate that many cylinders were hurled into nearby fields due to the intensity of the blasts. Meanwhile, the driver and cleaner of the truck are missing, and a search operation is underway. The police have sealed the highway for safety reasons while firefighters continue to battle the flames late into the night.
