Big Catch for BSF: ₹7 Crore Heroin Recovered from International Border
Jodhpur (The Uttam Hindu): The BSF has foiled another attempt of drug smuggling on the India-Pakistan international border. Late on Monday night, BSF jawans recovered 1.6 kg of heroin sent through a drone in Jodhpur's Khajuana area, which is estimated to be worth more than Rs 7 crore in the international market.
Giving information, BSF IG Madanlal Garg told the media that this consignment was dropped by a drone from the neighboring country about two and a half kilometers inside the border at around 1:30 last night. Alert BSF jawans immediately reached the spot and seized this packet and started investigating the matter.
IG Garg said that the supply of drugs from Pakistan has become a serious problem, especially in Punjab, Ganganagar and Bikaner areas of Rajasthan, such incidents are more. He said that the neighboring country constantly tries to send consignments of drugs, but our soldiers foil them every time. Apart from this, BSF also has an anti-drone system, due to which drones are shot down many times. Where the drone is unable to fall and the heroin falls down, there too the soldiers take quick action and confiscate it.
IG Garg said that the cooperation of local people also plays a big role in border security. Due to their timely information, BSF has foiled attempts of drug smuggling many times.
Earlier, in March, based on a tip-off from the Border Security Force (BSF) Intelligence Branch, 3kg of heroin was recovered from the Chakra 3 KNM area of 12 KND Village in Bikaner. The value of the heroin in the international market was estimated to be around Rs 15 crore.
The intelligence branch of BSF had received secret information about drug smuggling in this area. After this, under the guidance of DIG Intelligence Jodhpur, Vidur Bhardwaj, a team of Mahesh Chand Jat, Inspector Tarachand Yadav, Inspector Ajay Kumar Pandey, and Deepak Kumar conducted a special search operation. During this, a consignment of heroin was recovered in yellow packets.
