New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian government has announced a big honor for the brave soldiers who destroyed terrorist hideouts by entering Pakistan during 'Operation Sindoor'. On the eve of Independence Day, the government has announced to award 9 officers of the Indian Air Force (IAF) with the country's third highest military honor 'Vir Chakra'.

This honour is given for showing extraordinary courage and valour against the enemy during wartime on land, water or in the sky.

It is noteworthy that in the month of May this year, the Indian Armed Forces carried out 'Operation Sindoor'. During this, these brave officers of the Air Force destroyed dozens of terrorist bases active in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). The fighter planes of the Air Force also razed to the ground the terrorist headquarters located in Muridke and Bahawalpur, which were considered to be the strongholds of terrorists.

According to the information provided by the Air Force, in this daring operation, Indian pilots not only destroyed the terrorist camps but also shot down at least six fighter planes of Pakistan. India also destroyed Pakistan's air defense system during this operation, after which the Pakistani army was forced to surrender. Now the government is honoring the nine fighter pilots who were a part of this historic operation with the Vir Chakra for their indomitable courage.
