Horrific accident in Maharashtra: 8 killed as car returning from temple falls into ditch

Nandurbar (The Uttam Hindu): Eight people were tragically killed in a horrific road accident in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district on Saturday. The tragic incident occurred when a vehicle carrying pilgrims lost control and fell into a deep ravine at Chandshali Ghat, Maharashtra Police said on Saturday.


The accident occurred in the Shahada police station area. According to reports, the vehicle was returning after visiting the Astamba Devi temple. During the return journey, the driver lost control while climbing a ghat, and the vehicle fell into a deep ravine. According to police, the ravine was very deep, and the impact was severe enough to throw the occupants out of the vehicle. The vehicle was also severely damaged.


Upon receiving news of this horrific accident, local police immediately arrived at the scene and began rescue operations. The injured were immediately admitted to the Taloda Sub-District Hospital, while the seriously injured were referred to the district hospital. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination, after which they were released to their families.


It is worth noting that the pilgrimage to Astamba Devi holds great significance among the tribal community, and large numbers of people from Gujarat and Maharashtra visit the shrine. The Chandshali Ghat, where this accident occurred, is considered extremely dangerous. The descent is steep at many places, making it a constant risk of accident.
