Ahmedabad Aviation Tragedy: 248 DNA Samples, 20 Bodies Delivered After 31 Confirmed IDs

Ahmedabad (The Uttam Hindu): The death toll in the Ahmedabad plane crash has reached 275. By Sunday morning, DNA samples of 248 bodies were taken. Of these, 31 have matched, out of which 20 bodies have been handed over to the family. Their death certificates have also been made available. The process of identifying Vijay Rupani's body is still going on.

The relatives of 11 of the foreign nationals who lost their lives in the accident can reach Ahmedabad today.

An order has been placed to make 170 coffins to keep the bodies. About 100 of these coffins have been brought from Vadodara to Ahmedabad. The work of making the remaining coffins is in progress. On the orders of DGCA, Air India conducted a one-time safety check of 9 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet. 24 planes are yet to be checked. The airline has 26 Boeing 787-8 and seven Boeing 787-9.
