New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The server of the country's leading airline, Air India, suddenly crashed on Wednesday, causing chaos at several major airports across the country. The technical glitch was most severe at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), where passengers faced significant inconvenience.

Mile-long queues of passengers were seen at the boarding counters at Delhi Airport's Terminal 2 (T2). Passengers at the airport said the problem began around 3 p.m., and since then, passengers have been seen wandering around in disarray.

According to an Air India employee at the airport, the software is down, completely disrupting the luggage drop process. The server outage forced the airline to resort to manual check-in for flights to destinations like Thiruvananthapuram and Patna .

Passengers' problems were further compounded by the extremely slow manual check-in process. Many passengers accused the airline of negligence, saying they received neither messages nor emails regarding the server issue. During this time, many flight schedules were also abruptly changed, forcing passengers to wait at the airport for extended periods.

An official at Delhi airport confirmed the server down and said that this problem has occurred at all the airports in the country and efforts are underway to fix it as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, passengers on other airlines in Delhi are also experiencing delays in arrivals and departures. IndiGo has issued a separate advisory regarding air traffic congestion. IndiGo stated that flight operations from Delhi may be affected due to air traffic congestion, resulting in delays and increased waiting times for passengers.
