Amid Trump’s Tariff War, PM Modi Invites 'Friend' Putin to India
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone. During the conversation, President Putin briefed Prime Minister Modi on the latest developments related to Ukraine. Prime Minister Modi thanked President Putin for sharing detailed information and reiterated India's permanent policy that the conflict should be resolved through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy.
Both leaders expressed commitment to further strengthen the India-Russia special and privileged strategic partnership. Also, reviewed the progress of mutual bilateral agenda. Prime Minister Modi has invited President Putin to visit India when the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit will be held. Prime Minister Modi also shared the details of the conversation on X and wrote, "Had a very good and detailed conversation with my friend President Putin. Thanked him for sharing the recent developments regarding Ukraine. We reviewed the progress of the bilateral agenda and reiterated our commitment to further strengthen the India-Russia special and privileged strategic partnership. Looking forward to hosting President Putin in India later this year."
Let us tell you that the last visit of the Russian President to India was on December 6, 2021, when he came to New Delhi to attend the 21st India-Russia Annual Summit. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made two important visits to Russia last year.
