Amit Shah predicts BJP win in West Bengal, vows to block infiltration with national grid
Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a press conference in Kolkata on Tuesday. He said that the people of Bengal show a resolve to replace fear, corruption, misgovernance, and infiltration with a strong government based on development, legacy, and welfare of the poor. Shah claimed that the BJP will form the government with a two-thirds majority in the upcoming Bengal Assembly elections.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that today, December 30th, is a day of pride for all Indians. On this day in 1943, Subhas Chandra Bose, a son of Bengal and the nation's greatest freedom fighter, hoisted the flag of independent India for the first time in Port Blair. In a way, this was a significant milestone in our struggle for independence.
Taking aim at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Union Home Minister said that the people of Bengal are both frightened and apprehensive due to the TMC's 15 years of rule, characterized by fear, corruption, misgovernance, and especially infiltration. "We want to assure and promise the people of Bengal that with the formation of a BJP government in Bengal under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we will revive this legacy. The Ganga of development will flow again, and the welfare of the poor will be given priority," he said.
The Union Home Minister said that for 14 years, fear and corruption have been the hallmarks of Bengal. After April 15, 2026, when the BJP forms the government in Bengal, we will initiate the revival of Banga Gaurav, Banga Sanskriti, and its culture. We will strive to create the Bengal of the dreams of Vivekananda, Bankim Babu, Gurudev Tagore, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
Amit Shah said that in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, we received 17 percent votes and two seats in Bengal. In the 2016 assembly elections, we received 10 percent votes and three seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, we received 41 percent votes and 18 seats. In the 2021 assembly elections, we received 38 percent votes and 77 seats. The party that had received only three seats, received 77 seats in a span of five years. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP also received 39 percent votes and 12 seats. In 2026, we will definitely form a BJP government in Bengal with a huge majority.
He said that Congress, whose inception started from Bengal, reached zero and the Communist alliance which ruled for 34 years could not get even a single seat and we became the main opposition in Bengal.
Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Due to corruption under Mamata Banerjee's leadership, development has virtually stalled across Bengal. All of Prime Minister Modi's welfare schemes are eliminating poverty across the country, but here they have been hijacked by toll syndicates. Fear and corruption have become the hallmarks of Bengal. The BJP government is committed to reviving Bengal's pride and culture after April 15, 2026, when the BJP government is formed."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "The BJP wants to assure and promise the citizens of West Bengal that as soon as a BJP government is formed in the state, we will revive Bengal's heritage and bring a wave of development to the state. We will also prioritize the welfare of the poor. We will create a national grid that will prevent infiltration."
