New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A big and reassuring news has come for air travelers and airlines. Within a few hours, oil marketing companies have taken a major U-turn regarding the prices of aviation fuel (ATF). Previously, oil companies had increased ATF prices by more than 100 percent, which had raised fears that air travel would suddenly become much more expensive. However, the government intervened immediately and forced the companies to back down, and now this increase has been reduced to just 8 percent.

After a massive increase of 100%, the increase came down to 8%

This sudden decision by oil marketing companies created panic throughout the aviation sector. Initially, ATF prices were increased from ₹96,000 to ₹2.7 lakh per kiloliter. This was an unexpected and shocking increase, which was expected to have a direct impact on the common man's pocket and airfares. However, after government intervention, the companies revised their prices to provide relief, and now the price has been reduced to approximately ₹1.04 lakh per kiloliter.

These revised ATF prices will now be applicable in metros

Following this major U-turn, new ATF prices have come into effect immediately in the country's major metropolises. According to the new rates, the price of ATF in the national capital, Delhi, has now become Rs 1,04,927 per kiloliter. Similarly, its price in Kolkata has been fixed at Rs 1,09,450 and in Chennai at Rs 1,09,873 per kiloliter. Meanwhile, in Mumbai, the country's financial capital, the price of aviation fuel there is the lowest among these four metropolises, at just Rs 98,247 per kiloliter.
