Bengaluru Horror: Junior Student Arrested for Raping Senior Inside Engineering College
Bengaluru (The Uttam Hindu): A disturbing and shameful incident has come to light from Karnataka’s capital, Bengaluru, where a junior student of a reputed private engineering college allegedly raped his senior female student inside the campus. Following the complaint filed by the survivor, police arrested the accused, identified as Jeevan Gowda, and sent him to judicial custody.
According to the FIR registered at Hanumanthanagar Police Station, the survivor is a B.Tech seventh-semester student, while the accused is her junior in the same college. Reports suggest that the two had known each other for around three months.
As per the complaint, on October 10, during the lunch break, Jeevan repeatedly called the student, asking her to meet near the architecture block. When she reached there, he allegedly tried to get close to her. On resisting, the accused forcefully dragged her into the men’s washroom, locked the door, and sexually assaulted her between 1:30 PM and 1:50 PM.
After the assault, the survivor somehow managed to escape and, in shock, narrated the entire incident to her friends Darshan and Tarun. Later, she informed her parents, and on October 15, an FIR was filed against the accused.
During the investigation, police found that even after committing the assault, Jeevan continued to harass the victim by calling her and shamelessly asking whether she needed a “pill” (contraceptive tablet), an act that, according to the police, was meant to further traumatize her mentally.
Police stated that the floor where the assault occurred did not have CCTV cameras, which has made the investigation slightly difficult. However, forensic teams are analyzing both digital and physical evidence. The incident, having occurred inside the college campus, has sparked outrage among students. Both the survivor and the accused belong to the same department.
Authorities have assured that a detailed investigation is underway and that strict legal action will be taken against the accused.
