Big blow to naxals in Chhattisgarh: Forces kill 2 top commanders worth ₹8 lakh each
Bijapur (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces have achieved a major success in the south-western region of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. In an encounter that began on Friday morning, the police killed two Maoists carrying a bounty of Rs 8 lakh each. The police have also recovered weapons, explosives and banned Naxalite literature from the spot.
Bijapur Superintendent of Police Dr. Jitendra Kumar Yadav said that the DRG (District Reserve Group) team started a search operation after receiving reliable information about the movement of Maoist cadres in the south-west region of the district. During the operation, intermittent encounters took place between the police force and the Maoists since morning.
During this operation, two rewarded Maoists were killed. The first Maoist was identified as Hidma Podiyam (34), who was a resident of Bedset, Indravati area. He was a member of PPCM Company No. 2, Platoon No. 1 and had a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head. At the same time, the second Maoist was identified as Munna Madkam (25), who was a resident of Katekalyan, District Dantewada. He was also a member of Company No. 02, Platoon No. 01 and had a reward of Rs 8 lakh declared on him.
Security forces recovered huge quantity of arms, explosives and banned Naxalite literature from the encounter site.
Earlier, two Naxalites were killed in an encounter between security forces and Maoists in the south-western region of Bijapur on Friday morning. During this, a rifle along with other weapons and a large amount of explosive material were seized from the spot. A .303 rifle, an SLR, some indigenous weapons and a large quantity of IEDs (improvised explosive devices) were recovered from near the bodies of the Maoists.
Let us tell you that Bijapur is one such district of Chhattisgarh, which is prominent among the Naxal-affected areas. The dense forests here are a safe hiding place for the Maoists. So far this year many encounters have taken place in Chhattisgarh, in which many Naxalites have been killed.
