Big Pre-Poll Move: Bihar Govt Increases Pay for ASHA and Mamta Workers

Patna (The Uttam Hindu): Before the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has made another big announcement and given a gift to lakhs of women workers associated with the health sector. CM Nitish has announced a significant increase in the honorarium of Asha and Mamta workers. The Chief Minister shared this information on his official X handle, appreciating their contribution in improving health services in rural areas.


Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wrote in his X post, since the formation of the government in November 2005, we have worked extensively to improve health services. Asha and Mamta workers have played an important role in improving health services in rural areas.


He further wrote, keeping this in mind and honoring the important contribution of Asha and Mamta workers in strengthening health services in rural areas, it has been decided to increase their honorarium.


According to the new announcement, ASHA workers will now be given ₹3,000 instead of ₹1,000 as incentive. The incentive amount of ₹300 per delivery given to Mamta workers has been doubled to ₹600. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this decision will boost the morale of the workers and health services in rural areas will be strengthened further.


This decision is the latest in a series of populist announcements made by the Nitish government in recent times. It is worth noting that on July 17, the Chief Minister had announced 125 units of free electricity for electricity consumers. On July 16, he had directed the Education Department to calculate the vacancies of teachers and conduct TRE-4 (Teacher Recruitment Examination) soon.


Apart from this, the monthly pension of eligible journalists under the Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Scheme was also announced to be increased from ₹ 6,000 to ₹ 15,000.
