Bloody Holi: Land dispute turns son into killer, entire family hacked to death

Bahraich (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident took place ahead of Holi in Basantpur Rudal village of the Rupaidiha area, where a dispute over land and jewellery led to the murder of four family members. Late at night, a man allegedly attacked his father with an axe during an argument over money from the sale of property and ornaments. He then went on to kill his mother, grandmother and sister when they tried to intervene. The incident came to light after family members and villagers, awakened by screams, found the bodies lying in a pool of blood in the courtyard.

According to information, the argument escalated around midnight and turned violent when the accused lost his temper. As villagers gathered at the house after hearing the commotion, the accused allegedly tried to take his own life by injuring himself with a brick but was stopped and rescued by the people present there.

Police reached the spot after receiving information and took the injured accused into custody. He was admitted to the district hospital and later referred to a trauma centre in Lucknow due to his serious condition. Senior police officials inspected the scene, while the forensic team collected evidence. Further investigation is underway.
