Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): On Sunday morning, panic gripped an Indigo Airlines flight from Delhi to Bagdogra when a bomb was reported on board. Passengers and crew members were stunned by this news. The flight was immediately diverted and made an emergency landing at Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. A total of 237 people were on board, including 230 passengers, two pilots, and five crew members.

The message was written on tissue paper in the bathroom

According to the incident, IndiGo flight number 6E-6650 took off from Delhi. During the flight, a passenger went to the bathroom and noticed a tissue paper. The tissue paper read, "There is a bomb on board." The passenger immediately informed the crew. The crew immediately informed the pilot. Then, at around 8:46 am, the pilot contacted ATC (Air Traffic Control) to report the bomb and requested permission for an emergency landing.

Intensive investigation done after being taken into isolation

As soon as permission was granted at Lucknow Airport, the administration went on alert. After safely landing the plane, it was parked in an isolation area away from the main terminal. The fire brigade and bomb disposal squad (BDS) immediately arrived at the scene. ACP Krishnanagar Rajneesh Verma stated that the BDS team is conducting a thorough search of every corner of the plane. It is a matter of relief that no suspicious object has been recovered so far. Police are now trying to find out who wrote the threatening message on tissue paper.

Lucknow-Kishangarh flight will be closed from January 24

Meanwhile, passengers have been shocked by another news related to the aviation sector. The direct flight from Lucknow to Kishangarh (Ajmer), which was started to promote regional connectivity under the 'UDAN' scheme, is going to be discontinued. This flight of Star Air will not operate after January 24. The airline has cited operational reasons behind this. Let us tell you that this service started on February 16, 2024 and Star Air was the only airline providing direct connectivity on this route. This flight used to fly four days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) and completed the journey in just 1 hour and 20 minutes.
