Chennai (The Uttam Hindu): Panic gripped Chennai’s Neelankarai area on Thursday morning after a bomb threat call was made to the residence of popular actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief, Vijay. An unidentified caller phoned the police control room claiming that a bomb had been planted at Vijay’s house and abruptly disconnected the call. However, after an intensive search operation, the alert turned out to be a hoax.

Following the alert, the police and the bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene and conducted a thorough inspection of Vijay’s property. No explosives were found. Officials later confirmed that the bomb threat was fake. Police have initiated an investigation to trace the caller and determine the motive behind the prank call.

Notably, on September 28, Vijay had also received threatening emails, which prompted immediate action from law enforcement and security agencies. A bomb squad, along with sniffer dogs, conducted a detailed search of his home, but no suspicious items were discovered. Authorities later clarified that the threatening email was a hoax intended to cause panic.

Now, with yet another bomb threat call received within days, the incident poses a renewed challenge for the Chennai Police. Senior officials assured that a detailed probe is underway and the person behind the hoax will be arrested soon.
