New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Due to the recent tensions between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had suspended IPL 2025 for a week. However, now that a ceasefire was implemented on Saturday between the two countries, the league is likely to resume soon.

IPL 2025 ready to resume after ceasefire, date revealed; BCCI to release new schedule soon:

According to media reports, IPL 2025 could resume by May 15 or 16. BCCI is holding a meeting to finalize the new schedule for the remaining matches. So far, 57 matches have been played this season. The PBKS vs DC game, which was halted due to the suspension, is likely to be the first match after resumption.

BCCI is planning to hold most of the remaining matches in various Indian cities, though Dharamshala has been excluded from the updated schedule. As for international players who had left India on Friday and Saturday, most are being recalled promptly. Over 60 foreign players from 10 teams are participating in IPL 2025.

Before the suspension, Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, were on top of the points table. Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians also remained in the top four. The contest for fourth place between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals was heating up. Earlier, the final was scheduled for May 25 in Kolkata, but this date and venue may now be changed in the revised schedule. BCCI will release the updated playoff and match fixtures in the coming days.
