New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Every year, approximately 75,000 women in the country die from cervical cancer. This information was given in the Rajya Sabha on Monday. Speaking on this serious issue, Rajya Sabha MP Sulata Dev said that approximately 125,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year, and 75,000 of these women die.

To curb this death toll and prevent cervical cancer, she raised the issue of cervical cancer vaccination in the House. Biju Janata Dal Rajya Sabha MP Sulata Dev told the House that cervical cancer is a major issue, affecting women. She stated in the Rajya Sabha that cervical cancer kills 75,000 women in the country every year.

Sulata Dev said that a vaccine for cervical cancer exists that can prevent this disease. A specific virus causes cervical cancer. A vaccine exists to combat this virus. Vaccines can provide significant prevention, and the government has a responsibility to make this vaccine available. The government should step forward to make the vaccine available.

While briefing the Rajya Sabha, Sulata Dev said that our mothers and sisters are greatly affected and suffering from cervical cancer. They are even dying from it. In light of this situation, the government should vaccinate women against cervical cancer. It is crucial for us to ensure the health of our country's women. Women can only truly be respected when their health is taken care of.

He stated in the Rajya Sabha that while caring for the entire household, women often fail to take care of themselves. Therefore, the government should be vigilant about cervical cancer and make this vaccine available. Girls aged 9 to 14 can be protected with two doses of this vaccine. If this vaccination is missed, three doses can be given to girls aged 15 to 26. Women older than this age can get this vaccination on the advice of a doctor.

He said that women constitute half the population of this country, who will take care of this half of the population? Cancer is a terrible disease. When cancer occurs, all property is sold to pay for treatment. But cervical cancer is the only cancer for which vaccination is available, so in such a situation, we should make this vaccine available. This disease can be prevented and prevention is better than treatment. The government has also talked about cervical cancer vaccination in its budget. He demanded from the government that this vaccination should be made available keeping in mind the safe life of women.
