Chlorine Gas Leak in Bhopal Pharma Unit: Many Suffer Breathing Issues, Area Panic

Bhopal (The Uttam Hindu): A big news came out from Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal on Wednesday afternoon. Chlorine gas leaked in the Hind Pharma factory located in Govindpura Industrial Area, after which there was chaos in the area. The gas leaked from the chemical store of the factory spread rapidly in the surrounding area, due to which many people had to face severe irritation in the eyes and serious difficulty in breathing.

In the preliminary investigation, the cause of the gas leak is said to be the fire in the garbage kept in the factory premises. Due to the fire, the chlorine gas kept in the chemical store started leaking. As soon as the information of the incident was received, Govindpura SDM Ravish Kumar Srivastava, SDERF team, Municipal Corporation fire brigade, police force and electricity department staff immediately reached the spot.

The team engaged in relief and rescue work sprayed caustic soda to eliminate the effect of the gas. After about an hour of hard work, the chlorine gas was neutralized and the situation was completely brought under control. The administration has currently appealed to the people to be cautious and avoid going to the area around the factory for some time.
