Betul (The Uttam Hindu): A disturbing incident has emerged from Sanwaga village in Betul, where a 30-year-old man allegedly murdered his parents and younger brother inside their home. The accused, Deepak Dhurve, is also accused of attacking his five-year-old nephew, who was seriously injured. The family’s pet cat was also found dead in the house. The crime took place on Thursday.

According to neighbours, suspicion grew when the house door remained open until Thursday afternoon and there was no response from inside. After repeated calls went unanswered, villagers forced the door open. Inside, they found blood stains on the floor and walls. The accused was sitting quietly near the bodies of his family members. Police arrived at the scene and arrested him immediately.

The deceased have been identified as his father Raju alias Hansu Dhurve (55), mother Kamalti Dhurve (40), and younger brother Dilip Dhurve. The injured nephew, Prashant Parte, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Initial information suggests that the accused had been facing mental health challenges for several years. Family members said he was academically bright and had topped his Class 12 examinations. After completing his studies, he stayed at home to prepare for government job examinations, including recruitment in the Central Reserve Police Force. However, repeated failures reportedly led to frustration and depression. Neighbours informed police that he had been receiving treatment for mental health issues for the past four to five years and had recently returned from Nagpur after seeking medical consultation. Police are investigating the matter in detail.
