Cold Forces Terrorists to Move from Hills to Plains; Security on High Alert in Jammu
Jammu (The Uttam Hindu): With the onset of winter and a sharp drop in temperature, terrorists hiding in upper mountainous regions are facing increasing difficulties. Intelligence agencies have issued an alert warning that these militants are now seeking shelter in lower and plain areas to escape the cold. To achieve this, they are reportedly contacting their local aides and overground workers.
Following these intelligence inputs, security forces have gone on high alert and launched extensive raids and search operations across the Jammu region to foil any such terrorist plans.
Searches Conducted at Suspects’ and Former Militants’ Homes
Providing details of the operation, Doda SSP Sandeep Mehta said that the drive aims to identify and dismantle the local support network of terrorist organizations. He added that the houses of slain terrorists, surrendered militants, and other suspects are being thoroughly searched.
SSP Mehta further stated that the police are also keeping a close watch on potential sleeper cells and online propagandists attempting to radicalize local youth. He warned that strict legal action will continue against anyone found supporting or promoting terrorist activities.
Preventive Operations to Maintain Peace: Ramban Police
Similar operations have been carried out in Ramban district. SSP Arun Gupta of Ramban said that these measures are part of preventive and intelligence-based actions aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region.
He noted that joint teams of police and security forces have been conducting intensive checks at suspicious locations to ensure that no anti-national or illegal activity is taking place.
Public Appeal: Report Suspicious Activities Immediately
Security forces have made it clear that such surprise search operations will continue in the future. Officials have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious individuals or activities in their areas. Police have assured that the identities of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
