Coward or Peacemaker? Salman Khan’s Ceasefire Post Sparks National Outrage
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): After several days of tension along the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan, both countries announced a ceasefire. Bollywood actor Salman Khan shared his relief on social media following this announcement.
The Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor wrote on his social media platform 'X', “Thank God for the ceasefire.” However, Salman later deleted the post. Netizens are now criticizing the Tiger Zinda Hai actor — not for reacting to the ceasefire, but for his silence on the armed forces' Operation Sindoor.
A flood of critical comments about Salman has appeared on 'X'. One user wrote, “The ceasefire lasted only as long as Salman Khan's movie was running in theatres.” Another comment stated, “All these Bollywood activists like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir, Ranbir, etc., have a large fan base in Pakistan and the Middle East. These stars have huge investments in Gulf countries. They know that Indian nationalists will not harm them or their business interests. They simply don’t care.”
A netizen commented, “I’ve been a Salman fan for the past 15 years, but from today I hate him. When the war was going on, he didn’t tweet even once. But as soon as he heard that the war was over, he tweeted. Then, when Pakistan violated the ceasefire, he deleted the post. Such cowardice. Nothing is more important than the country.” Another user wrote, “He wants peace with Pakistan because he’s a slave to Pakistani girls, trying to be a hero in their eyes. Instead of caring about Indians, look at his true nature. He’s betraying his country by siding with the enemy.”
One comment read, “Salman Khan posted ‘Thank God for the ceasefire’ and then deleted it. Silence during pain, and a whisper after the ceasefire? Don’t show sympathy, Salman Khan... you’re a snake hiding in the grass.” It’s noteworthy that just a few hours after a ceasefire agreement was reached amid ongoing military clashes between India and Pakistan, Pakistan violated the ceasefire and loud explosions were heard in Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
