Deadly road accident, five killed ten injured in pickup van tractor trolley collision
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic road accident late Wednesday night in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, claimed the lives of five people and left ten others seriously injured. The accident occurred in the Berasia police station area when a pickup van collided head-on with a tractor trolley.
People travelling in the tractor trolley were returning from Narmadapuram after taking a holy dip on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. After receiving information, the police reached the spot and began rescue operations, pulling passengers out of the damaged vehicles.
Berasia police station in-charge Vijendra Sen said the collision was extremely severe, killing five occupants of the pickup van on the spot. Among the deceased were three members of the same family. The victims have been identified as Mukesh Ahirwar (40), Babri Bai (60), Deepak (14), Laxmi Bai (60) and Hari Bai (60). All were residents of the Sironj area of Madhya Pradesh.
A total of ten people travelling in both vehicles were injured in the accident, including three children. After first aid, the injured were referred to Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal and other private hospitals. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
